What Is a Pelvic Inflammatory Disease / Endometritis Evaluation?

A PID or endometritis evaluation focuses on identifying infection and inflammation of the female reproductive organs, including the uterus, fallopian tubes, and surrounding pelvic structures. Early evaluation and treatment are critical to prevent chronic pain, infertility, and other complications.

What We Review During Your Evaluation:
  • Lower abdominal or pelvic pain and tenderness
  • Abnormal vaginal discharge or odor
  • Fever, chills, or flu-like symptoms
  • Abnormal uterine bleeding or post-procedure symptoms
  • Sexual history, STI risk factors, and recent procedures
  • Need for testing, antibiotics, or urgent referral

Why Early Evaluation Matters

In-home visits allow for early assessment while maintaining privacy and comfort. UrgentCare2Go® helps patients:

  • Initiate treatment early to reduce complications
  • Identify sexually transmitted or post-procedure infections
  • Reduce the risk of infertility and chronic pelvic pain
  • Determine when hospitalization or specialist care is needed
  • Receive guidance on follow-up and partner treatment

Create a Clean and Comfortable Environment:

  • Ensure the area for your UrgentCare2Go service is clean and has sufficient space for our equipment and staff to move around comfortably

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

UrgentCare2Go

What is pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)?

PID is an infection of the female reproductive organs, often caused by sexually transmitted bacteria, that can lead to serious complications if untreated.

What is endometritis?

Endometritis is inflammation or infection of the uterine lining, sometimes occurring after childbirth, miscarriage, abortion, or gynecologic procedures.

What symptoms should prompt evaluation?

Symptoms include pelvic pain, fever, abnormal discharge, painful intercourse, irregular bleeding, or symptoms after a gynecologic procedure.

Is PID a medical emergency?

Severe pain, high fever, vomiting, or signs of sepsis require urgent or emergency evaluation.

Can mobile urgent care evaluate PID?

Mobile providers can assess symptoms and initiate treatment planning, but some cases require in-clinic testing or emergency care.

What tests may be needed?

Testing may include pelvic exams, STI testing, blood work, urine testing, or imaging depending on severity.

How is PID treated?

Treatment usually involves antibiotics and close follow-up. Severe cases may require hospitalization.

Can PID affect fertility?

Yes. Untreated PID can cause scarring that increases the risk of infertility and ectopic pregnancy.

Are visits private and HIPAA-compliant?

Yes. All visits are confidential and follow HIPAA-aligned privacy standards.

Do you accept insurance?

We accept most major insurance plans. Coverage varies based on individual policies.

Will my partner need treatment?

If a sexually transmitted infection is identified, partner evaluation and treatment are often recommended.

Can telehealth be used for follow-up?

Yes. Telehealth visits are often used for follow-up care and symptom monitoring.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Bring a list of medications, recent procedure history, and details about symptom onset.

What happens after the evaluation?

You will receive a treatment plan, follow-up instructions, and referral guidance if needed.
