What Is a Chronic Non-Healing Wound Evaluation?

A Chronic Non-Healing Wound evaluation investigates why a wound has failed to heal properly over several weeks. Providers assess infection risk, blood flow, underlying medical conditions, medication impact, lifestyle factors, and wound type to identify the barriers preventing healing.

What We Assess During Your Evaluation:
  • Wound depth, drainage, odor, and tissue condition
  • Signs of infection or poor circulation
  • Underlying conditions such as diabetes or vascular disease
  • Medication review and impact on healing
  • Lifestyle and nutrition factors affecting recovery
  • Recommendations for home care, follow-up, or specialist referral

Why Evaluation Is Critical for Chronic Wounds

In-home wound evaluation reduces infection risk and provides comfort while enabling our providers to monitor your wound in the environment where care is being performed. UrgentCare2Go® brings advanced wound care directly to you.

  • Identify infections early before they worsen
  • Receive guidance on dressing changes and wound hygiene
  • Determine need for antibiotics or further testing
  • Reduce risk of long-term complications or hospitalization
  • Improve conditions promoting better wound healing

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

UrgentCare2Go

What qualifies as a Chronic Non-Healing Wound?

A wound that does not heal within 4–6 weeks, or worsens over time, is considered chronic and requires medical evaluation.

What causes wounds to stop healing?

Common causes include infection, diabetes, poor circulation, pressure, repeated trauma, or improper wound care.

Do Chronic Wounds require antibiotics?

Only if infection is confirmed. Evaluation helps determine whether antibiotics or other treatments are needed.

Can I receive wound care at home?

Yes. In-home wound care is effective for patients with mobility issues or complex wound needs.

What types of chronic wounds do you evaluate?

We evaluate diabetic ulcers, venous ulcers, pressure sores, surgical wounds, and traumatic wounds that fail to heal.

Is imaging needed for chronic wounds?

Imaging may be recommended to assess circulation or detect deeper infection.

How often should chronic wounds be monitored?

Monitoring frequency depends on wound severity, healing progress, and risk factors.

Can poor nutrition delay wound healing?

Yes. Protein deficiency, dehydration, and vitamin shortages can slow healing.

What signs indicate urgent care is needed?

Spreading redness, fever, foul odor, severe pain, or rapidly worsening wounds require immediate medical attention.
